A Meaningful Gathering in Lille
This World Vitiligo Day, something truly special happened in Lille: the French Vitiligo Association and the Vitiligo Belgium Association came together to celebrate WVD 2026 and the result was a powerful reminder of just how far the global vitiligo community has come.
Representatives from both associations joined forces for what became a productive, meaningful gathering part celebration, part working session. Members and volunteers spoke about the importance of these cross-border collaborations, using the moment to compare notes on the progress of vitiligo research and treatment across countries. Because seeing how the science and the advocacy are moving forward elsewhere doesn’t just inform, it inspires.
Collaboration Over Isolation
What made the gathering in Lille stand out wasn’t just the exchange of ideas, but the spirit behind it. Two associations, two countries, one shared mission: to keep pushing vitiligo research forward and to make sure patient voices stay at the center of that progress. It’s a small but powerful example of what’s possible when patient organizations choose collaboration over working in isolation.
Where Personal Stories Meet Scientific Progress
For many attendees, the day was also deeply personal. Meeting fellow patients from different backgrounds, hearing their stories, and realizing just how connected this global community really is, left a lasting impression. Conversations moved easily between the personal and the scientific from lived experience to the latest developments in treatment and research and that blend is exactly what makes days like this so valuable.
Part of a Bigger, Global Movement
Moments like this are exactly why World Vitiligo Day matters. It’s not only about raising awareness, it’s about proving, again and again, that the vitiligo community is growing stronger, more united, and more determined every year. And Lille is just one part of a much bigger picture: across the world, patient associations are holding their own WVD 2026 celebrations, each one adding its voice to a truly global movement.
VIPOC is proud to help share this story with the world because collaborations like the one between the French Vitiligo Association and Vitiligo Belgian association, held right here in Lille, deserve recognition on a global stage, not just within their own borders. Every association, every volunteer, and every patient voice adds to a movement that’s making real progress, together.
